We operate a claims handling service based on fairness and common sense. If and when you need to make a claim, it is of the utmost importance to us that your problem is dealt with quickly, efficiently and in the most convenient manner for you and your business.

If you have a Hiscox policy and suspect you may have a problem, you can call us as soon as you think there might be a potential claim.  We will work on your behalf, to minimise the cost of a covered liability and any potentially damaging consequences (e.g. damaged relationships and/or time consuming litigation) through our proactive rectification and mitigation measures. Our aim is to keep your involvement to a minimum so you can remain focused on your business.

Approving your claim

For negligence claims, we will keep you fully advised on our intention to either pay an agreed settlement to a claimant or defend the claim through the legal system. Whatever the decision, your commercial interests will always be our most important priority.

For loss or damage claims, we usually require just one estimate and will endeavour to settle on that basis. You can also choose your own preferred contractor or supplier or go with a recommendation from our comprehensive list of approved suppliers.

If your claim is approved and we agree a cash settlement, we will pay the relevant amount directly to your bank account.

If a Hiscox claims surveyor visits your office they are authorised to write on-the-spot cheques for up to £20,000.
